PostDoc – spectroscopy & chemometrics (all genders welcome)
Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L/100%

to be filled. Starting date is as soon as possible. The position is initially fixed-term for a period of three years, with the possibility of extension, and offers the opportunity for habilitation.

About us:
As a research-oriented division of the Department of Animal Science, we work primarily on sustainable, consumer-oriented and socially acceptable ways for the production of food of animal origin. The focus is on nutritional, sensory and technological quality assessment using instrumental and sensory methods through to consumer tests. We have modern laboratories for the physico-chemical characterization of food, including HPLC, GC-FID and GC-MS, texture analysis, infrared spectroscopy and microscopy, hyperspectral imaging and a modern sensory laboratory. Current research issues include, for example, the preservation of genetic diversity in farm animals, the use of alternative feedstuffs to avoid food competition and the improvement of animal welfare during husbandry and slaughter.
What we offer:
As part of our young, dynamic and international team, you will have the opportunity to research into agricultural applications of benchtop and mobile near- and mid-infrared spectroscopy including micro-spectroscopy and hyperspectral imaging. This includes but is not limited to the fields of product quality and authenticity, animal health and welfare, and sustainable animal feeding strategies including the production of insects. You will have freedom to further develop your personal portfolio and skills - your further scientific qualification (i.e., habilitation) is desired and actively supported. This also includes the opportunity to take part in the university didactics certificate course. The position allows quite flexible working hours including the option of mobile working. There is the option of an additional company pension scheme (VBL) and you will receive various employee benefits. Lower Saxony also offers the possibility of educational leave (5d/calendar year). Finally, the university city of Göttingen inspires with its unique scientific density and offers a charming surrounding area with a high recreational value.

The range of activities typically includes the implementation of research ideas in project proposals, participation in/management of third-party funded projects, participation in and development of teaching activities for Master's degree programs, (co-)supervision of B.Sc., M.Sc. and doctoral students.
Ideally, your strengths are curiosity, commitment and implementation skills, i.e. you are able to develop solutions and implement them effectively. You are characterized by a quick grasp as well as a hands-on mentality; you work conscientiously and responsibly. You communicate convincingly and are enthusiastic about working with you both inside and outside the team.
Recruitment requirements are: a doctorate/Ph.D. with very good or good results in the field of vibrational spectroscopy and/or chemometrics, a relevant M.Sc. degree with very good or good results, e.g. in food or analytical chemistry, agricultural or food sciences, data science or alike, and good to very good command of English.
Desirable qualifications are: research experience in spectroscopy and related data analyses, initial experience in project management, basic knowledge in the field of (food) analysis, (initial) experience in university teaching and supervision of students, good knowledge of German (B2).

Your application should include: a letter of motivation outlining your personal drive, research interests and suitability, CV, evidence of your professional qualifications, references (not older than 3 years), letters of reference if applicable and a list of your publications including presentations.
