The Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME is a strong partner for contract research in the areas of agriculture, chemistry, environmental and consumer protection, as well as pharmacy and medicine. Our interdisciplinary organization allows us to process complex projects across departments and where appropriate, also focuses on cooperation with external institutes and partners. We work closely with basic research and are internationally networked. The Cultured meat group at the Fraunhofer IME aim to revolutionize the way we produce meat by culturing animal cells in vitro, eliminating the need to harm animals and reducing environmental and public health destruction.
Our Cultured meat group focuses amongst other on bioreactors since they are of great importance for scaling up cultured meat production while maintaining the highest levels of quality and safety.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a postdoc to start as soon as possible who will focus on the development and optimization of bioreactors that can support the growth and differentiation of stem cells as well as tissue maturation to produce intro meat.

- Design, execute, and analyze process development experiments to maximize understanding of cell culture and fermentation processes for cultured meat
- Contribute to the development of new ideas, and methods to enable process development and scale-up of the cultured meat production process

Was Sie mitbringen
- You have applicants with a PhD in biochemical engineering, Biotechnology, biomedical engineering, Cell biology or other related science/engineering field
- Must have scientific understanding of fermentation and cell culture processes.
- Prior experience with bioreactors and bioreactor process optimization
- Oversight of execution of cell culture experiments with benchtop and pilot-scale bioreactor systems towards large-scale process and media optimization.
- Proven publication record

Die wöchentliche Arbeitszeit beträgt 39 Stunden. Die Stelle kann auch in Teilzeit besetzt werden. Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD). Additionally Fraunhofer may grant performance-based variable remuneration components.
Die Stelle ist zunächst auf zwei Jahre befristet, doch wird eine langfristige Beschäftigung angestrebt.
