The group of Prof. Dr. Franc Meyer at the Faculty of Chemistry at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen welcomes applications for a

Ph.D. position (all genders welcome)

in the field of bioinspired transformation of energy-related small molecules, specifically the reductive fixation of dinitrogen at bimetallic 3d transition metal complexes. The position is remunerated with 50 % E 13 TV-L with a limited contract of 3 years. The earliest starting date will be 01.07.2024.

Your profile
- you hold (or are in the process of concluding) a Master’s degree in Chemistry,
- you have very good English language skills,
- you are willing to work in an international team,
- you are experienced in organic ligand synthesis as well as in the synthesis of air sensitive transition metal complexes using Schlenk techniques or gloveboxes,
- you have good knowledge about spectroscopic and magnetic methods for characterizing metal complexes and their electronic structures
- you have a solid background in modern coordination chemistry.

The successful applicant will be involved in the synthesis and comprehensive characterization of highly preorganized dinuclear 3d transition metal complexes, and in the use of these complexes for the cooperative activation of dinitrogen and other inert small molecules, aiming at their (electro)chemical transformation into valuable organic products.

We will provide a stimulating research environment in a diverse and interdisciplinary team as well as first-class facilities. PhD students will be enrolled in the Chemistry program of the Georg-August University School of Science (GAUSS) and will benefit from a wide variety of training courses.
