The Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) welcomes applications for post-doc positions with a strong background in Safety human-robot interaction.

Key Responsibilities

        Management of the Robot Performance & Safety Lab, including:

o   Maintenance and improvement of the existing test stands and infrastructure.

o   Implement quality management for the laboratory.

o   Student/PhD-student mentoring and work-package management for further laboratory development

o   Acquiring new research projects within the safety and robot performance domain and actively contributing to the development and preparation of innovative research proposals,

o   Active representation, partner and member acquisition for the laboratory at conferences, fairs, or similar,

o   financial reporting,

o   laboratory management

        Driving publication of the research project results in high-impact robotics journals and peer-reviewed international conferences.

        Supporting MIRMI lighthouse initiatives that aim to tackle human-robot interaction challenges

        Funding acquisition and management of research proposals.

        Teaching activities at the Master's and/or Bachelor’s level courses.

        Supporting the senior management team for the management and administration of the institute.

Requirements

        Ph.D. in robotics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or a related field

        Self-organized management

        Excellent research track records in the field of human-robot interaction supported by publications

        Experience with programming robots and C++, ROS1, ROS2, LabView, or similar

        Experience in mechatronic hardware design, maintenance, or a track record of previous management of hardware-related projects

        Experience in self-reliant management of research projects (financial and administrative), including leading a team

        High motivation and willingness to work in an international and interdisciplinary team.

        Fluency in spoken and written English; German is a plus

Beneficial but not required skills are:

        A well-established understanding of the field of robot safety (a specific focus on ISO/TS 15066 standardization is a plus)
