The Leibniz Institute for Psychology Information (ZPID) in Trier (Germany) is an internationally renowned research support organization in psychology and a member of the prestigious Leibniz Association.

Open Access Publishing Manager (m/f/d)
(initial salary group TV-L E11, 100%, initially limited for 2 years; career-path available)

Duties and functions:
PsychOpen GOLD is an open access publication service platform operated by ZPID. Since 2012 PsychOpen GOLD has produced journals operated by international, independent scientific editorial boards in psychology. The services of PsychOpen GOLD include support of authors and editorial teams and production of manuscripts, in-house as well as in cooperation with external partners. You can find more detailed information about PsychOpen GOLD at the last call for new PsychOpen GOLD journals . PsychOpen GOLD operates 14 journals at the moment and will grow up to 20 within the next few years.
The successful applicant is expected to aid the current team lead with structuring of operations, management of operations and assisting with technical topics and eventually become the new team lead and product owner for PsychOpen GOLD over the next few years.
We are looking for a person who has a strategic understanding of the open access and open science landscape and at the same time is able to develop and formalize a very structured, scalable approach to the operational details of scientific journal production. This includes the organization and human-resources planning of work in-house and with external partners, as well as mastering the technical requirements and details of online journal publishing like use of journal management systems, optimized article production including various manuscript formats (e.g. Word, LaTeX, XML), and dissemination of publications using the global scientific infrastructure.
You will work closely with our PsychOpen GOLD team, currently consisting of 5 other persons, as well as with the editorial boards of the different journals, consisting of highly renowned scientists worldwide and various authors publishing in PsychOpen GOLD journals.

Your profile:
- Master’s degree or equivalent or higher in a discipline relevant for this position
- Proven experience with the academic publishing process
- Affinity to technical topics of journal production and/or programming (please elaborate)
- An open mind to relate to the requirements of psychological open access publishing, with the confidence to make own, informed suggestions for organization and strategy
- Proactive, results-oriented, and independent working style
- Project management skills
- Command of written and spoken German on a native level
- Very good command of written and spoken English
optional qualifications:
- experience with configuration and back-end work in journal management systems like OJS or Editorial Manager
- experience with acquiring third-party funding
