“Matter and Light for Quantum Computing ” (ML4Q) is a Cluster of Excellence established in 2019 within the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments. In ML4Q, scientists from the universities of Cologne, Aachen and Bonn as well as Forschungszentrum Jülich come together to develop new computing and networking architectures using the principles of quantum mechanics. But cutting-edge science is not our only objective. In ML4Q, we cultivate an exceptional working environment for early-career researchers in the quantum science and technology domain. We offer ample space for the development of their own research ideas, comprehensive training opportunities, and actively foster a diverse and inclusive environment where individuals from varied backgrounds and experiences collaborate respectfully. Moreover, we provide explicit opportunities to promote Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, ensuring that everyone's voice is heard and valued.
As part of the ML4Q Fellowship programme, we invite applications from outstanding postdoctoral researchers who are eager to contribute to the cluster’s scientific objectives and advance their academic careers.
Successful candidates will receive funding to support their position for two years, covering expenses such as consumables, travel costs, and providing workspace within one of the ML4Q groups situated in Aachen, Bonn, Cologne, Düsseldorf, or Jülich. In addition, fellows will benefit from a range of training programs and access to a mentoring network.
