Master Thesis - Modeling Network-on-Interposer I/F for high-end ARM-based Processors

Updated: about 4 hours ago

Your Job:

In general our team is working on integrated circuits (ICs) which combine analog and digital components from modern CMOS technologies. Our research, associated within in the EPI project, focuses on the modelling on the data flow of the envisioned chiplet architecture. We are searching for a master student who likes to work in the context of processor architecture exploration/optimization applying a model-based methodology. Your tasks in detail:

  • You implement and evaluate Nework-on-Interposer approaches for a chiplet-based processor. This will be done using various topologies and routing algorithms.
  • You conduct the evaluation through benchmarking HPC application kernels (e.g. stencil-style codes, Sparse Matrix Vector Multiplication, Stream).
  • The implementation and evaluation will be based on simulations, using and extending the gem5-model developed within the frame of the EPI project.

Your Profile:

  • Enrolled in a Master (M.Sc.) Course for computer science or similar field
  • Good analytical view of problems and ability to master complex systems
  • Solid programming skills in C++ or another object-oriented language
  • Interested in the areas of computer architecture and multi-core processors
  • Knowledge of gem5 or relating simulators would be desirable
  • Good English capabilities

Please apply for the position even if you do not have every required skill and knowledge.

Our Offer:

We work on the very latest issues that impact our society and are offering you the chance to actively help in shaping the change! We support you in your work with:

  • Opportunity to work on highly relevant engineering challenges with state of the art technologies
  • Continuous scientific mentoring by your scientific advisor as well as a close integration in the international research group
  • Work within one of the largest research centers in Europe
  • Being involved in various steps of the development flow for an integrated circuit
  • Excellent scientific and technical infrastructure
  • Flexible working hours and the possibility to partially work from home
