Lecturer as academic staff member full time (100%)
Your tasks:
- Independent research in the field of RNA modifications with a focus on the development of analytical methods, including integration into the existing Collaborative Research Center TRR 319 "RMaP"
- Support of academic research groups through the development and implementation of
- Biochemical and biophysical assays and technical expertise
- Further development of methodological skills and expertise according to the needs of the scientific environment, also to strengthen the ability to obtain third-party funding / future third-party funded projects
- Conception, management and implementation of own research projects
- Independent conception and implementation of academic courses and internships in relevant degree programs
- Administrative tasks including security aspects, contract research and finances

Your profile:
In addition to the general requirements according to public services law, applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in § 57 of the Hochschulgesetz of Rhineland-Palatinate:
- A successfully completed university degree with a doctorate in a relevant subject related to the subject area and field of activity
- After successfully completing university studies, full-time employment of at least two years and six months
- Comprehensive knowledge of methods and applications in chemical biology and medicinal chemistry, ideally with a strong focus on RNA-modifying enzymes
- Special knowledge in the field of natural RNA modifications and the development of synthetic modulators of RNA-modifying enzymes
- Broad experience with organic synthesis and characterization of pharmaceutically relevant target molecules and enzyme inhibitors
- Knowledge of spectroscopic RNA analysis, especially FT infrared spectroscopy-based
- Broad range of methods in biochemical, biophysical and enzymatic assays, especially for the investigation of synthetic ligands with enzymes and/or RNA, ideally proven by relevant publications
- Further professional experience in the field of RNA modification to complement the topics covered in the Collaborative Research Center TRR 319 "RMaP"
- Knowledge and experience in academic teaching
- Experience in the preparation and acquisition of externally funded projects and research networks
- Experience in staff management and personnel administration
- Very good knowledge of the English
- Very good communication skills
- High degree of independent work

If the legal requirements for civil servants are not (or not yet) met, employment as an academic member of staff (EG 13 TV-L) may be possible.
The position is remunerated according to salary grade A 13 LBesG and to be filled on October 1st 2024. This is a permanent civil servant position.
