ZIEL - Institute for Food & Health is a central institute of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) that conducts interdisciplinary research at the interface of food, nutrition and health sciences. The development of sustainable food systems and the prevention of nutrition-related diseases are complex topics with high social relevance. ZIEL established a strong scientific expertise and visibility in the research areas of microbiome and metabolism, hosting DFG funded Collaborative Research Centers (CRC1371, Microbiome Signatures; TRR 333 Brown and Beige Fat). The Junior Group is expected to establish an excellent research track addressing various aspects of the food chain, from raw materials and their processing to the biomedical evaluation of food in terms of the prevention of nutrition-related diseases. To further raise the profile of our research (www.ziel.tum.de), we are looking to fill the following position as soon as possible.

Your profile
As head of a junior research group, you will design application-relevant and basic research projects and carry them out together with doctoral students. With your junior research group, you would like to research new food (ingredients) and their effects on human health at all levels of translational sciences.

As a postdoc, you will have already gained initial experience in the independent implementation of research projects following the above-average completion of your doctorate, which should not be more than four years ago, and have gained recognition in the specialist community. You have published your research results in international journals and are ideally successful in acquiring competitive third-party funding. You are now aiming to take the next step in your professional career in order to take on a professorial role in a university or non-university research institution.
Applications for independent funding, e.g., DFG Emmy-Noether program or ERC starting grants, are encouraged and supported by us.
