The LMF MPI-CBG is one of the largest open access imaging facilities in Germany. It offers 25 advanced imaging systems to more than 230 users per year who book around 40,000 hours of instrument time annually. The LMF provides the following imaging technologies: wide-field microscopy, laser scanning confocal microscopy, two-photon microscopy, spinning disk confocal microscopy, TIRF microscopy, super resolution light microscopy, light sheet microscopy and laser capture microdissection.
We are now seeking a highly motivated and service-oriented light microscopy imaging specialist at an early career stage, who shall become part of the LMF team supporting imaging projects in the fields of cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, genetics, neurobiology, biochemistry and biophysics.
The successful candidate will:
- Support a broad variety of light microscopy imaging projects
- Provide training and teaching in basic and advanced light microscopy
- Maintain and service current imaging systems
- Implement and contribute to the development of new imaging technologies
- Support the LMF operations in general
Eligible candidates will:
- have a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or Master in natural sciences, biomedical or bioengineering sciences, biophysics, physics or related subjects
- Experience in basic and advanced light microscopy techniques is a must. Experience in image analysis, programming, computer science and optical technology development is desirable but not mandatory
- Excellent command of English together with good communication and computer skills are essential
- The candidate should be a proactive, self-motivated, flexible, organized, service-oriented, team player willing to support scientists with basic and advanced aspects of light microscopy and expand his/her knowledge in new microscopy techniques
The successful candidate will become part of a lively international multidisciplinary research environment at the MPI-CBG and the Center for Systems Biology Dresden (CSBD), where biology meets physics, chemistry and computer science. The working language of our community is English.
The position is available immediately. The initial contract is for 2 years with the possibility to extend for another 3 - 4 years. Salary and social benefits will be in accordance with the regulations of the German TVöD Bund (the salary agreement for public service employees).
