Our group is working on various topics of basic research on geo- and cosmochemistry with focus on triple oxygen isotopes of rocks and minerals. The Geoscience Center hosts a wide spectrum of modern analytical equipment, including 3 conventional gas source mass spectrometers (MAT253, Mat253+, DeltaPlus), IR-laser spectrometers (H2O, CO2), carbonate preparation device, and a high-resolution gas source mass spectrometer (Ultra).

The candidate (m/f/d) shall conduct innovative basic research in the fields of stable isotope geo- and/or cosmochemistry. You can work in a team and have good communication skills. Apart of independent projects, a close collaboration within the workgroup is desired. Acquisition of third part research funds, supervision of undergraduate and graduate students, publications in peer-review journals, participation in national and international conferences, participation in laboratory maintenance and development, and collaboration within the group will be part of the obligations. The teaching duty is 4 SWS (4 hours per week during the lecture time; teaching can be conducted in English; German skills are desired). Participation in stable isotope geology courses and/or field trips is expected. The candidate has the opportunity for habilitation.

Prerequisites for consideration are an excellent PhD in the field of stable isotopes (completed prior to appointment; PhD completed within the past 3 years) with focus on clumped and/or triple isotope applications, in-depth hands-on experience with gas source mass spectrometers, at least 3 publications in the field of isotope geochemistry in internationally renowned peer-review journals. Further prerequisites are excellent English communication skills (written and oral). German and Python language skills are desired.
