At the Erlangen site, the more than 400 employees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Systems and Device Technology IISB conductapplication-oriented research and development on innovative topics in semiconductor technology and power electronics.


The »AI-supported simulation« team combines physically based simulation approaches with efficient and advanced mathematical algorithms andAI frameworks for modeling and optimizing power electronic components and systems.

What you will do

  • Research in the field of Quantum Computing, with a particular focus on Quantum Machine Learning
  • Research and Implementation of Quantum Kernel Methods and Quantum Support Vector Machines (QSVMs) on datasets of practical relevance in the field of networks
  • Comparison between the performance of the Quantum Tangent Kernel (QTK) and other commonly used kernels in those datasets
  • Data analysis and documentation of the results

What you bring to the table

  • Student in the field of artificial intelligence, computer science, electrical engineering, physics, mathematics or another related degree program with a scientific or engineering focus
  • Advanced knowledge of Python and basic experience in the field of quantum computing
  • Independent, goal-oriented and responsible working style

The weekly working time is 39 hours. The duration of the internship is three to six months, depending on the agreement.
