Join our team
European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany. It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide range of experimental techniques.
For our Vacuum group we are looking for an
Industrial Mechanic or Physics Technician for Vacuum Technology (f/m/d)
The position
- Assembly and commissioning of vacuum components
- Organization of vacuum laboratory and clean room
- Cleaning, quality assurance and packaging of components under clean room conditions
- Participation in design, build-up and operation of test setups
- Teamwork within a team of international technicians, engineers and scientists
- Willingness to acquire a crane operator license, if not already available
- Participation in the vacuum group's on-call service
Requirements
- Industrial Mechanic, Physics Laboratory Technician or equivalent qualification
- Experience in setting up and operating complex experimental equipment
- Interest, willingness and ability to learn new areas of expertise
- Organizational and communication skills
- Experience with Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) equipment or working in clean room environments would be an asset
