The Institute for Medical Informatics researches innovative methods and tools for cross-institutional cooperation in medical research, teaching and care. There is close cooperation with partners from health care, science and industry. The institute works with colleagues from the fields of statistics, data analysis, artificial intelligence and ethics.

The junior research group (NG) is part of the Institute for Medical Informatics and is funded by the BMBF as part of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII). Against the background of the establishment of medical data integration centres associated with the MII, previous approaches are to be analysed and new concepts for data management and multi-dimensional analysis are to be developed and expanded. The aim is to make databases more reliable and validatable and, in this context, to improve the quality of the data collected.

In this context, the quality of the collected data and metadata must also be analysed and evaluated. The question of when medical data make a person re-identifiable will also be investigated. 

In addition to the UMG MeDIC, the strongly research-oriented institute bundles its projects and services in the other areas of clinical collaborative research, intersectoral collaborative research and translational research. It cooperates closely with partners from research, care and industry. More than 50 employees develop and evaluate innovative IT solutions for medical research. One focus is on the provision and operation of internationally usable information/data infrastructures and the sustainable availability of the research data generated therein in accordance with the FAIR Guiding Principles.

Your tasks:

  • Management of the junior research group as well as participation in the Institute's management committee
  • Project management and budget planning in IT projects.
  • Conception and implementation of IT solutions for medical research
  • Communication with project partners and External presentation of the junior research group
  • Acquiring third-party funding

Your profile:

  • Doctorate in medical informatics or a comparable course of study
  • Strong analytical skills as well as independent and structured working style
  • Experience in team leadership and management of scientific IT-related projects Knowledge of data management and data protection in clinical research is desirable.
