The Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry (MPIB) in Martinsried is one of the world's leading research institutions in the fields of biochemistry, cell and structural biology and biomedical research. We seek a Head of Grants Office (m/f/d) (Full or Part Time)

The grants office is responsible for pre- and post-award services at the MPI of Biochemistry. It supports researchers in all issues from developing their funding portfolio to the management of grants. The office serves as a one stop shop for researchers and coordinates the internal services to support researchers and their interactions with funders.


Your profile

You have a Master or PhD in life sciences and international experience in research and/or research administration. You enjoy leading a team in a competitive international environment and are passionate about both science and writing. You have experience in scientific writing and project management, teaching experience and/or knowledge of database management is an advantage. An excellent command of written and spoken English is essential, fluency in German appreciated.


Your responsibilities will include
  • Advising researchers on the development of the external funding portfolio
  • Identification of suitable funding opportunities
  • Monitoring novel developments in the funding landscape
  • Holding workshops on grant writing for junior researchers
  • Advising in proposal writing
  • Fulfilling administrative requirements for applicants
  • Analysing proposal evaluation results
  • Networking and communication with all stakeholders
  • Managing ongoing grants (reporting, contract management, trouble shooting)
