The Institute of Earth Sciences within the Faculty of Chemistry and Earth Sciences at Heidelberg University invites applications for a

FULL PROFESSORSHIP (W3) IN “ORGANIC ENVIRONMENTAL GEOCHEMISTRY” (F/M/D)

to be appointed at the earliest possible date.

We seek an Organic Environmental Geochemist (f/m/d) pursuing analytical research focused on the application of organic-geochemical methods to understand modern and past processes and evolution of the Earth System. Their research should involve novel and comprehensive approaches, ideally covering a broad spectrum of the geological timescale and complementing existing research within the Institute of Earth Sciences. Applicants should be distinguished by their diverse and internationally recognized research record and scientific accomplishments.

The faculty position has responsibility for core courses in the existing curricula for the „Earth Science“ Bachelor and Master programs, including teaching of fundamental environmental science and field-based courses. The position links research groups within the Institute of Earth Sciences as well as with other cooperating institutes within the Heidelberg Center for the Environment (HCE). The candidate is expected to establish a primarily externally funded research program and to participate in academic self-government.

Prerequisites for application are a university degree, a qualified doctoral degree, pedagogical aptitude which has generally been proven through teaching experience and (in accordance with Article 47, paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the State of Baden-Württemberg) a Habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship, or equivalent merits.
