The Institute of Sports Science at the University of Tübingen’s Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences invites applications for the position of a
Full Professor (W3) of Sports Science
with a special focus on the Social Sciences of Sports
to commence on 01.04.2023.
Applicants are expected to excel in broad-based sports science research and the ability to conduct interdisciplinary empirical work using state-of-the-art methods in social sciences. We are looking for a person whose research can attract substantial external funding and whose research is internationally visible via publications in leading journals and networking. The applicant's profile should be compatible with either of the three main research areas of the Tübingen Institute of Sports Science, i.e., performance, health, and/or education. In addition, references to the Faculty’s and the University’s core research areas are desirable.
The successful candidate is expected to also represent the field of Social Sciences of Sports in teaching. The professorship is involved in all degree programs offered by the Tübingen Institute of Sports Science. Experiences in teaching sports and/or coaching athletes/teams (in University courses or beyond) is desired.
In addition to general administration tasks, the professorship takes the lead of the research group on Social Sciences of Sports (in continuation of the Chair of Social and Health Sciences at the Institute).
Required qualifications include a Habilitation (or other postdoctoral qualifications equivalent to the requirements for tenure) obtained in Sports Science or with a clear link to research in Sports Science. This includes evidence of teaching effectiveness.
