The Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied and Inte-grated Security AISEC jointly invite applications for the position of a Full Professor in »Software & System Security« in combination with the Institute Director at Fraunhofer AISEC to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W3 Full position (Karlsruher Model).

Scientific environment

The professorship will be assigned to the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology, Department of Computer Engineering, combined with the position of the institute director at Fraunhofer AISEC.

The TUM CIT unites the disciplines of Mathematics, Informatics, and Electrical and Computer Engineering. The research and teaching activities range from theoretical knowledge to its application. Responsibilities

We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Software & System Security with some of the following focus areas:

§  Secure software engineering: methods and tools §  Secure system engineering, in particular, system software and embedded systems §  Automated analysis of the security of complex software systems §  Risk analysis and security assessment, security metrics §  Security in communication systems §  Secure AI and AI for security §  Privacy-enabling technologies

Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.

The professorship is associated with the directorship at Fraunhofer AISEC, which includes the scientific, technical, and entrepreneurial control and development of the institute within the Fraunhofer model (https://www.fraunhofer.de/en/about-fraunhofer/profile-structure/facts-and-figures/finances.html a key aspect of the Fraunhofer model is the collaboration with industry). In addition to the thematic orientation of the research, you will be involved in project acquisition and management, the transfer of results to industry as well as personnel management – with an emphasis on modern leadership and change processes. 

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with experience in managing larger groups and a track record regarding the acquisition (both from science and industry) and implementation of national and international research and development projects. Excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment (please see www.tum.de/en/faculty-recruiting-faq/ for further information) are expected. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
