Updated: over 1 year ago
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

The new RTG 2638 is dedicated to questions concerning the nexus of norms, their critique, and how norms relate to social change. It seeks to study the specific structures of normative practices common to the arts, law, religion, language, and morality. The RTG research agenda follows the hypothesis that in all these contexts applying a norm necessitates critically reflecting on that norm. Consequently, this implies that the realization of standards can lead to their transformation. The RTG explores the transformative aspect of normativity in these contexts, analysing similarities and differences. The RTG’s main objective is to develop an understanding of how transformation is a constitutive element of normativity.

The RTG is designed to cover a large interdisciplinary range, which is important for tackling its basic theoretical topic with an interdisciplinary and comparative approach. This is why the RTG 2638 brings together the disciplines of Art History, Dance Studies, Film Studies, German Literature, Law Studies, Linguistics, Musicology, Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Theatre Studies. Researchers of these disciplines are encouraged to apply. The RTG will be bilingual (German and English). For more information on the RTG, please consult the website: https://www.normativitaet-kritik-wandel.de/
