The European Research Council Project “Digital Governance in China” under the leadership of Prof. Genia Kostka looks at digital governance in China. The project will examine how digital technologies are integrated into local governing processes in Chinese cities and what the impact of big data is on social, political and economic life in China. Based on extensive field research and surveys, the findings will add to the field of digital governance in authoritarian states and will contribute to debates reaching beyond the China context about societal change under advancing digitalization.
We are looking for one student assistant (41 h/month for 2 years) who will be part of a research group developing, implementing and analyzing data from China in form of documents, surveys, interviews and other observational studies. We offer first-hand insights into social science academic research as well as a friendly and open working environment.

Job description:
Supporting the project's research agenda; conducting extensive literature review both in English and Chinese sources; conducting interviews or assisting with interview transcript as well as quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The working language is English.

Desirable:
Fluent Chinese language skills, very good English proficiency, enrolment in Political Science, Economics, Sociology, or related disciplines, very good academic achievements; experience in quantitative and qualitative social research.
