The EU-project MobiliTraIN is an international training network focusing on the development of ion mobility-high resolution mass spectrometry (IM-HRMS) together with 21 partners from academia and industry. Aim of the particular project is the development of a standardization strategy for activation energy-resolved ion mobility experiments such as collision-induced unfolding (CIU). Technically this will involve the chemical synthesis of suitable peptide models and their subsequent analysis using ion mobility instruments from different vendors.
Non-tariff payment of employer gross from 3.942,20 € to 4 437,20 €.

Job description:
• Chemical synthesis of suitable peptides displaying gas-phase unfolding and dissociation behavior over a wide range of energy during mass spectrometric analysis.
• In-depth characterization of energy-dependent processes in the gas phase using different instruments.
• Application of the obtained energy scale to inter-laboratory protein CIU studies.

Requirements:
• Completed academic degree (equiv. to Master’s) in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
• Applicants must comply with the MSCA mobility rule: they must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Germany for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline.

Desirable:
• Knowledge in the areas of mass spectrometry and ion mobility spectrometry.
• Experience in chemical synthesis and modification of peptides and carbohydrates.
• High motivation for independent scientific work.
