The Division Crop Science / Agronomy at the Department of Crop Sciences at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen is looking to fill the position of a
Postdoctoral Scientist (all genders welcome)
This position is a full-time position (regular working hours currently 39.8 hours per week) which should be filled as soon as possible. The contract will be limited for three years but can be extended by another three years. The position is designed to foster young researchers and scientists and give the successful applicant the opportunity to pursue a post-doctoral degree (habilitation). The salary is according to a full time public service position in the State of Lower Saxony (Pay grade 13 TV-L).
The Agronomy Division is performing research to increase the productivity of crop production systems sustainably while reducing the environmental footprint of the agricultural production. Another research focus is to gain improved understanding of impacts of climate change and climate variability on field crops. The group is developing and applying crop growth models and methods to process and analyze complex geospatial data sets. Experiments in the field and in greenhouses will be designed and analyzed. The successful candidate will contribute to this research but also establish an own scientific agenda with high international visibility. Creating a complementary research cluster by attracting own funds is expected while the contribution to teaching in bachelor and master courses (4 SWS) is required.
The successful candidate will hold a highly qualified PhD in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agroecology or related disciplines. Very good command of the English language and a proven track record in international scientific publishing are required. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with very good communication and organizational skills in an international team is expected. Knowledge of the German language is needed to contribute to teaching in bachelor courses. First experiences in teaching and with supervising students are desired.
