The successful applicant will cover research and teaching in the field of film studies.

Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).

Successful candidates will have specialized in the aesthetics of audiovisual media and media theory and have an excellent interdisciplinary research profile. Candidates should be able to demonstrate internationally visible, outstanding research activities and teaching in film studies at the university level. They will be expected to have experience in working with research associations and acquiring and implementing externally funded research projects.

Along with the regular official duties of professors listed in Section 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:

Successful candidates will participate in interdisciplinary research partnerships and initiate partnerships of this nature where possible. They will work in close cooperation with film, media, and cultural institutions as well as external research institutions. In addition to teaching in German, the appointed professor will also be able to conduct courses in English. They will also be expected to engage with gender and diversity issues as part of their research and teaching.
