The successful applicant will cover research and teaching in the field of inorganic chemistry, and in coordination chemistry in particular.

Appointment requirements are governed by Section 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).

Applicants should have a distinguished international track record of teaching and research in the field of molecular inorganic chemistry with a focus on the synthesis and electrochemical and spectroscopic characterization of functional coordination compounds, particularly for applications in the field of electrocatalytic conversions especially as magnetic and optoelectronic components. They should also have experience with carrying out teaching responsibilities for inorganic chemistry courses and experience in acquiring and leading externally funded research projects, as well as the ability to teach in German and English.

Along with the regular official duties of professors listed in Section 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:

The successful applicant should cover the breadth of the field including the range of subjects offered by the department in its degree programs, in particular the chemistry bachelor’s degree program and the bilingual chemistry master’s degree program. The new professor’s research should complement and enhance the department’s established research focus areas. They are also expected to contribute to research groups and networks in Berlin, such as CRC 1349 “Fluorine-Specific Interactions: Fundamentals and Function.” The appointee will also be expected to conduct their teaching in a manner that is attentive and sensitive to diversity issues.
