For the communications team, PIK is looking for a

Communications Professional as Head of the PR team (m/f/d)

(Position number: 12-2024 PR Head) starting on 01.01.2025.

The position is permanent. Remuneration is in accordance with the German public tariff scheme (TV-L Brandenburg), salary group E 14. This is a full-time position with a weekly working time of 40 hours per week.

Key responsibilities:

  • Content, organisational and personnel management of the communications team at PIK consisting of 5 employees with a focus on national and international press and public relations work.
  • (Further) development and implementation of a comprehensive communication strategy for both external and internal audiences
  • Advising the Board of Directors and senior scientists regarding all communication matters
  • Responsibility for the creation of press releases, articles, social media posts and other media material
  • Monitoring and analysing media coverage
  • Organising and conducting press briefings
  • Accompanying high-level visits and events
  • Maintaining and expanding relationships with media representatives, journalists and relevant stakeholders
  • Crisis communication and reputation management

Requirements:

  • A successfully completed degree in communications, journalism, public relations (Master's/Diploma or equivalent) or comparable qualifications
  • An additional degree in economics or natural sciences is desirable - but not mandatory Several years of professional experience in professional communication in science and/or journalism
  • Several years of proven management experience in journalism or its environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the relevant media landscape in Germany and internationally
  • Excellent ability to write texts of various types for different target groups in German and English
  • Ability to present complex scientific topics in an understandable way for the public
  • Proven organisational and management skills
