The Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute) employs about 400 international scientists, technical and administrative staff and students. It is the largest research institute in the world specializing in Einstein’s legacy: general relativity and beyond. The four scientific departments have been joined by a fifth lately, which is led by Director Prof. Dr. Guido Müller. He is searching for an experienced Bilingual Assistant (m/f/d) in Hanover. Your tasks
  • Scheduling of appointments and maintaining the Director’s calendar
  • Organization of and service at meetings, workshops and conferences
  • Organization of travel for the Director and staff/visitors, and preparation of reimbursement paperwork
  • Email and traditional correspondence in English and German, and minor translations
  • Interfacing between the Director’s office, scientific teams, service departments and the Max Planck Society Headquarters
  • Proactive assistance in organizational issues
  • Organization and management of some recruitment and procurement processes
  • Preparation and follow-up for administrative decisions

Your profile
  • Perfect fluency in spoken and written German and English
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly, self-managing time and priorities
  • Fluency with Microsoft Word and Excel

Also desirable are:
  • Fluency in Italian, French or other languages widely used in the scientific community
  • Experience with editing scientific texts

We offer

The position is initially for two years with a 6-month probation but is expected to become permanent. Starting date is ideally October 1 but can be negotiated.

Salary and benefits follow the remuneration of public employees in Germany (“Tarifvertrag im Öffentlichen Dienst – Bund, TVöD – Bund”). The salary level will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate; a salary group up to EG 9a is possible.
