The Institute of Sports Science at the University of Tübingen’s Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences invites applications for the position of a Assistant Professor (W1 ‘Juniorprofessur’, without tenure track) of Didactics of Sport to commence on the earliest possible date.

The position is initially limited to four years, with the possibility of extension by a further two years after a positive interim evaluation.

The successful candidate will conduct research with a focus on the didactics of sports and/or empirical school sport research (e.g., didactics of training, didactics of sport games, development of physical education in schools, diversity and heterogeneity, digitalization). The appointee will cooperate closely with the Tübingen School of Education and the LEAD Graduate School and Research Network.

They will also contribute to teaching and academic services. The position has a teaching load of four hours per week prior to interim evaluation and six hours thereafter. The position holder is going to contribute particularly to the study programs focusing on teacher training in physical education (Bachelor and Master of Education). Moreover, pertaining to academic self-administration they will partake in the development of study programs for PE teacher education and advise students therein.

Required qualifications include an outstanding doctorate in one of the above-mentioned research areas of the assistant professorship as well as recognizable potential for internationally acclaimed publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals and third-party funding. They will also have completed an academic degree (diploma, master's degree, or equivalent) in Sports Science, Educational Science, Psychology, Sociology, or related disciplines. Further, experience in conducting empirical studies in the aforementioned research areas as well as qualified teaching experience, particularly in higher education sports practice, are required. The appointment prerequisites of § 51 LHG apply

Ideally, applicants should as a rule have three years of work experience in schools.

In the course of the contract, the W1 professor is expected to attain the research and teaching achievements that will qualify him or her for an appointment as a tenured professor at any university or equivalent institution (Habilitation). Those who have completed a habilitation will be excluded.
