The Faculty of Human Science, Cognitive Science, Chair of Experimental and Biological Psychology at the University of Potsdam invites applications for the following position, limited to 3 years, which will be filled as soon as possible:

ID no. 310/2024
The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week (100 %). The position is classified within remuneration group 13 of the collective wage agreement among the German states (TV-L). The fixed term of employment is in accordance with Section 2 subsection 1 of the German Act on Limited Scientific Contracts (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz or WissZeitVG). If necessary, an extension is possible if personal and legal requirements are met.
Your Field of Work:
The position is in the Department of Psychology, Chair of Experimental and Biological Psychology. The research group runs projects on mathematical and computational models of cognitive processes and their experimental verification. One focus is on the analysis of eye movements and attention processes (e.g., during reading, scene perception, fixational eye movements) and their applications.
The Scope of Your Responsibilities:
- independent conception, preparation, and implementation of courses in the field of experimental and biological psychology, including follow-up and performance assessment of students in accordance with the provisions of the respective study regulations
- Supervision of students' theses at Bachelor and Master level
- Acquisition, management of, and participation in research projects
- Tasks in science management
Further academic qualification (doctorate or post-doctoral thesis (Habilitation)) is possible. At least one-third of working hours is available for in-depth academic work.
The teaching load is based on the requirements of the Teaching Obligations Ordinance (LehrVV) of the State of Brandenburg, as amended, and the Regulation for Calculating Teaching Load that was passed by the Senate of the University of Potsdam. This position is assigned to the group of academic employees “mit Qualifizierungsmöglichkeit (Promotion/Habilitation)”.
Your Qualifications:
- completed scientific university degree in relevant disciplines of cognitive science (e. g., cognitive neuroscience, psychology, linguistics, computer science), doctorate desirable
- Professional expertise and scientific publications in the field of cognitive sciences and interest in cognitive modeling
- Experience in academic university teaching (face-to-face and digital)
- organizational skills, reliability and ability to work in a team
- german language skills (written and spoken)
- very good written and spoken English skills
