Job title

study of a jet fuel refinery using nuclear energy H/F

Subject

The CEA is studying the deployment of a "CO2 refinery" based on CO2 and H2O, powered by nuclear energy for the manufacture of jet fuel.

Various tracks are possible, each with different energetic efficiencies and CO2 emissions.

Contract duration (months)

5 to 6 months

Job description

The production process will be divided into elementary steps for which material and energy balances will be calculated or found in the open litterature (CEA will provide some data based on its own technology).

Then, a global optimization will be carried out in order to try to determine the most relevant way, taking into account heat integration possibilities.

This internship will be carried out at the thermodynamic-thermochemical (LM2T) laboratory of CEA Saclay in collaboration with the Itésé (Institute de recherché en Economie de l’Energie du CEA)

Methods / Means

numerical simulation (either in python or using Prosim software)

Applicant Profile

Generalist or process engineering student with a passion for energy challenges. Good knowledge of thermal and thermodynamic engineering is recommended as well as life cycle analysis notions.

Gap year internship possible (5-6 months)
