Offer Description
Context and contributions of the position

You have a strong interest in geological studies in basin and orogenic domains, and you are eager to contribute to projects requiring expertise in both structural geology and 3D geological modeling. Proficient in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and 3D modeling tools (Geomodeler, Leapfrog, Gocad, etc.), you also possess knowledge in geostatistics. With field geologist experience, you are motivated to undertake expertise missions in both France and internationally. Drawing from your experience, you can apply your skills to diverse studies, particularly supporting public policies and addressing the needs of economic stakeholders.

Motivated to support the Georesources Division in its development, you are ready to leverage your expertise in conducting studies both in France and internationally. Joining the Sedimentary Basins Geology Unit (GBS), you will be part of research activities and operational projects covering various topics such as risks, water, storage, geothermal energy, etc.

Job description

Joining the French Geological Survey (BRGM) means becoming part of the leading public institution in Earth sciences, bringing together 1,000 experts and enthusiasts distributed across 29 entities in metropolitan France and overseas.

BRGM's activity aims at geological knowledge and understanding of phenomena related to the soil and subsoil, with a focus on addressing the challenges of environmental changes through innovative projects with societal implications.

As part of your responsibilities, you will be primarily responsible for :

• Conducting structural expertise and developing three-dimensional models by integrating surface and subsurface data.
• Providing expertise on geological infrastructure projects in France and internationally.
• Contributing expertise to the modeling and understanding of geodynamic processes.
• Designing and participating in the implementation of scientific research and public service projects (both in France and internationally).
• Enhancing the scientific and public visibility of BRGM in the field of geosciences by disseminating research results through publications and conference presentations.
• Participating in the Geological Reference of France program in collaboration with all program stakeholders (BRGM, CNRS, Universities).
• Contributing to the development of projects that integrate your skills with other scientific domains supported by BRGM, such as "Mineral Resources," "Groundwater," "Natural Hazards," "Energy," and "Environment," within the framework of interdisciplinary approaches.
• Participating in the development and implementation of national, European, and international collaborative projects (COMP, PEPR, ANR, etc.).
