Offer Description

Job description

Teaching activities The Institut Mines-Télécom's teacher-researchers are responsible for drawing up teaching programmes, coordinating teaching teams and acting on educational innovation. The person recruited will therefore be required to take part, depending on his/her areas of expertise, in the school's teaching activities, which include:  General engineering training;  Specialised engineering training through apprenticeships;  Specialised courses (masters, specialised masters);  Doctoral training. The person recruited will teach in the field of Complex Systems Engineering and the Digital Continuity that it implies and requires. He or she will therefore mainly be involved in the PRISM department, but may also be involved, depending on his or her skills and aptitudes, in core courses in industrial engineering and automation. The person recruited will take part in the major teaching exercises in the curriculum, such as juries and oral examinations, and will be called upon from time to time to take part in the school's other teaching activities and exercises (supervision of core curriculum fieldwork assignments, projects, work placements, academic tutoring or supervision of departmental Research and Development assignments). Part of the course may be taught in English, using active teaching methods.

Research activities

The ISOAR team now aims to strengthen the essential link between model-based engineering and Data Science. The person recruited will propose and develop, in close collaboration with the members of the team, high-level research on the methods, techniques and tools of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence aimed at facilitating traditional modelling, analysis and decision support activities in Engineering. This person could, for example, develop learning techniques with limited input data to identify various types of models (surrogate models), work on demonstrating confidence in the implementation of AI techniques or on knowledge engineering approaches

The aim is to move away from engineering based solely on models to systems engineering combining models, data, information and knowledge in order to save time and improve the quality of solutions. This has a number of possible effects, including • Implementation of verification and validation mechanisms as soon as possible, • The use of advanced simulation and property evaluation techniques, • Traceability and the search for precedents and potential conditions for the emergence of behaviours or properties in complex systems.

Technology transfer and development activities

The person recruited will be responsible for researching and setting up research contracts with industry, as well as writing funding applications to public bodies or international programmes. As such, he/she may be required to interface with the contracting partner, take charge of the scientific objectives defined in the project, lead the project team and monitor its progress, as well as the related communication. In addition, the candidate should be able to understand the process of commercial exploitation of research results, so as to be able to identify opportunities to contribute to cooperation between academic research, industrial research and the production sectors. Within the school, the person recruited will be required to identify and develop cooperation between the PFM and the CERIS research teams on the basis of his/her research skills. As an automation engineer, he or she will be a key contact between the PFM, the CERIS research teams and even the other IMT Mines Alès centres. Finally, the person recruited will be required to carry out, within his/her field of scientific and technical expertise, actions designed to support companies or the school's incubator in order to encourage the creation of spin-offs and the development of technology companies.
