Offer Description
Management of the scientific/experimental part of the research project "In-depth Study of the Structural and Physicochemical Properties of Iron-Doped Carbon Dots in Physiological Environments for Diagnosis", under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator (Dr. Laura Trapiella).
As part of the search for alternatives to clinical imaging contrast agents based on gadolinium complexes, this project aims to study iron as an alternative to gadolinium and evaluate the implications of iron positioning, their abundance and oxidation state, in the structure of carbon dots on their properties and their suitability for different biomedical applications. Thus, it includes: i/ realization of metal doping of carbon dots by different pathways; ii/ physicochemical characterization of doped nanoparticles; iii/ structural elucidation and metal positioning in the structure of the particle; iv/ colloidal stability and interaction studies in physiological environments; v/ evaluation of their applicability as multimodal imaging contrast agents and/or agents for phototherapy.
- Review of associated literature on project topic, keep updated
- Proposal of experimental plan, request for a quotation of products to be ordered
- Experimental manipulations, data processing and interpretation.
- Presentation of results informally at working meetings
- Writing experimental project progress reports and preparing oral presentations
- Writing scientific articles
- Possibility of supervising students at Master level
The postdoctoral researcher (M/F) will join the team "Synthèse, Electrochimie, Imagerie, et Systèmes Analytiques pour le diagnostic (SEISAD)" of the research unit (UMR8060 i-CLeHS, CNRS) at Chimie ParisTech – PSL (11 rue Pierre et Marie Curie, 75005Paris, France). https://iclehs.fr/research/seisad/
It will be under the direct supervision of Dr. Laura TRAPIELLA responsible for the project funded by the CNRS

Additional Information
Eligibility criteria
- PhD in chemistry, nanoscience
- Synthesis of nanomaterials;
- Experience in the physicochemical characterization of nanoparticles using techniques such as Uv-Vis, photoluminescence, TEM, DLS, XRD, FTIR, NMR, etc.
- Know how to work rigorously while respecting the work environment and following the rules of prevention and safety in the chemical laboratory
- Fluent oral and written English communication skills
- Be proactive
- Experience/knowledge in one or more of the following areas would be appreciated but not required: microwave assisted synthesis; functionalization of nanomaterials; electrokinetic separation methods (capillary electrophoresis) ; electrochemistry; modeling/simulation of structures, interactions and properties; nanoparticle-protein interaction studies; cell culture; optical imaging; magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); phototherapy
