Offer Description
The goal of this postdoctoral project is to determine the role of transcription factors in the sex determination process in zebrafish. The postdoctoral fellow will study the impact of genetic mutations in candidate genes involved in gonadal development using zebrafish models. Part of the project involves handling zebrafish embryos, maintaining lines via PCR genotyping, performing immunohistochemical and 3D imaging analyses of developing gonads, and conducting single-cell transcriptomic analyses (scRNA-seq) to understand the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying variations in genital development.
- Plan and conduct experimental studies - Manage colonies of transgenic zebrafish and identify them through genotyping - Collect and dissect juvenile and adult zebrafish, perform thin sections using a microtome and cryostat - Implement and adapt the various immunohistochemistry techniques required for the genetic analysis of zebrafish models, including histological (3D imaging) and molecular phenotyping - Use specialized software for imaging (ImageJ, AxioVision, etc.) and statistics (GraphPad) - Analyze “omics” data - Analyze and communicate data (maintain lab notebooks, present results at progress meetings) - Maintain a strong literature review - Potentially supervise a Master's student - Write a research article in English - Ensure compliance with health and safety principles and regulations.
The team is located in the heart of Nice and is part of the Valrose Institute of Biology (iBV) (27 teams; 250 people; 25 nationalities), an international research center that brings together top-tier teams with complementary expertise and a shared interest in translating basic research into clinical knowledge. The iBV provides state-of-the-art facilities, with a collaborative and vibrant atmosphere in a very pleasant city and region.
