Offer Description

The European Synchrotron, the ESRF, is an international research centre based in Grenoble, France.

Through its innovative engineering, pioneering scientific vision and a strong commitment from its 700 staff members, the ESRF is recognised as one of the top research facilities worldwide. Its particle accelerator produces intense X-ray beams that are used by thousands of scientists each year for experiments in diverse fields such as biology, medicine, environmental sciences, cultural heritage, materials science, and physics.

Supported by 21 countries, the ESRF is an equal opportunity employer and encourages diversity.

The Materials Science beamline offers a suite of high-energy X-ray diffraction and imaging methods. There is also a well-established programme of grain mapping via DCT and 3DXRD techniques, as well as single crystal and powder diffraction. The suite of multiscale methods at ID11 can address a wide range of questions in materials science, for structural materials, micromechanics, and phase transformations, as well as in related fields (geosciences, chemistry, etc.). You will be encouraged and supported to develop your own research project that exploits and develops the exceptional beamline capabilities. As the ESRF is a leading service facility, you will also take on the role of local contact in order to provide excellent support for our scientific community. Further information may be obtained from J. Wright (tel.: +33 (0)4 76 88 26 83, email: [email protected] ).
