Post-doctoral position in organic and supramolecular chemistry M/W

Updated: over 2 years ago
Location: Tremblay en France, LE DE FRANCE
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 10 Sep 2021

The post-doctoral fellow will develop the synthesis of molecular motors and the formation of motor/propeller systems according to methodologies developed within the SAMS research group and their collaborators. Characterization of molecules and motor/propeller conjugates will also constitute an important part of the work. We expect that the data obtained during the contract will allow in fine to achieve the world-smallest propellers to date with potential long-term applications in nanotechnologies and nanomedicine.

The post-doctoral fellow will join the SAMS research group at the Institut Charles Sadron in Strasbourg. He/She will work under the supervision of Prof. Nicolas Giuseppone (head of the research group) in the framework of an ANR collaborative project "Mona_Lisa" in collaboration with experimental physicists and theoricists in soft matter science. The scientific project aims at designing, synthetizing, and effectively actuating an entirely new class of mechanically active nanostructures functionalized with light-driven rotary molecular motors and helical propellers.

The Institut Charles Sadron (UPR22) of Strasbourg is a research unit affiliated to the CNRS that is recognized worldwide for its expertise in polymeric materials and self-assembled systems. The SAMS research group, that is also affiliated to the University of Strasbourg, aims at studying and understanding self-assembling processes in order to develop the next generation of so-called "smart" materials. The group has all knowledge and technical facilities necessary to develop such a challenging project. For more information, please have a look at our website: http://sams.ics-cnrs.unistra.fr/en/
