Description of the research subject
The FEMME ANR project questions the impact of women directors/writers/producers on the transformation of gendered roles on screen and in the film and TV industries. It explores contemporary feminist discourses and theories through their experiences and their films or TV series. FEMME studies the power of female directors, screenwriters and producers to introduce cultural, aesthetic and political changes in the media. It aims to stimulate research on women in film and television, and to engage in dialogue with industry players to advance the cause of gender equality.
Planning research project
The project is divided into 4 work packages over 4 years : Year 1‐2 = construction of the website and data collection throug interviews; Year 1‐2 = study of feminist discourse in film; Year 2‐3 = exploration of festivals ; Year 3‐4 = Making of short flms
Assigned activities and expected results
o Fieldwork (interviews, archival research).
o Classification and archiving of data (digital processing of data and provision of results on a database).
o Dissemination of knowledge (organization of film conferences, participation in Nuit des chercheurs.e.s).
o Promotion of data to different audiences via various media (social networks, publications, radio)
o Logistical and administrative support (meeting minutes, report writing)
o Help with project logistics (website) and administrative follow‐up in conjunction with the coordinator and various departments at Le Mans Université and its partners.

Skills/Qualifications
o Solid expertise in the field of arts and cinema (aesthetics, context)
o Excellent command of French and English (written and spoken; C1 in both languages)
o Field survey skills (including interviews)
Specific Requirements
The contract is for 24 months.
