Offer Description
Fibrosis is a chronic condition in which functional tissue is replaced by a rigid, disorganised extracellular matrix, leading to impaired tissue function and, consequently, organ failure. Chronic renal failure, heart failure and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) are among the most common fibrotic disorders. These chronic diseases are diagnosed at a late stage, when the organs have suffered significant damage, therefore the means of halting their progression are limited, which represents a major public health challenge.
In this context, the aim of the project is to (i) advance our understanding of the common mechanisms underlying fibrotic pathologies, in order to (ii) advance the development of innovative therapies, in particular via two innovative therapeutic approaches developed in Occitanie by the partners of the funded project.
The work will involve fibrosis models using cultured cells as well as rodent models of fibrosis diseases.
