Offer Description

We are looking for a highly motivated Post-doc researcher to join the SymbiLoss project to work on how the microbiota could play a role in the adaptation of non-mycorrhizal plants. SymbiLoss Project - Plants rely on arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) symbiosis to supplement their phosphorus supply. However, recent findings indicate that AM symbiosis is not essential. Indeed, there are families of “non-mycorrhizal” plants for which the loss of the AM symbiosis has not been compensated by any major nutritional innovation to our knowledge. This project aims to discover and describe the still unknown nutritional associations between non-mycorrhizal plants and their microbiota.

The person recruited will be responsible for conducting plant sampling campaigns in natural environments, analyzing the isotopic signatures of these plants and correlating these results with the activity/composition of the root microbiota after analysis by metabarcoding and/or metagenomics.

The position is at the Microbial Ecology Laboratory of Lyon UMR CNRS 5557 located on the Doua campus. The person will be recruited in the Rhizosphere team and will work on the ANR SymbiLoss project. To carry out the project, the person will have access to the various technical platforms of the laboratory and the university, in particular the Serre platform and the Prabi bioinformatics cluster.
