Post-doc: Caracterization of catalysts using operando X ray absorption spectroscopy (M/F)

Updated: about 2 years ago
Location: Tremblay en France, LE DE FRANCE
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 02 Oct 2022

- Perform experiments on the CRG/FAME- and FAME-UHD beamlines at ESRF. He/she will ensure the preparation of the experiment, alignment of the optics, installation of the experimental devices, follow-up of the experiment, analysis of the data.
- Design, develop and operate complex experimental devices. This involves developing the sample environments (catalytic reactor, electrochemical cell, etc.), and the associated fluorescence detection systems (analyzing crystals, solid detector).
- Ensure the development of instruments, in particular their adaptation to the problems and experimental constraints of the scientific project. - Interpret the results of X-ray absorption experiments (XANES, EXAFS)
- Ensure the dissemination and promotion of the results of the line in the form of technical reports, publications, oral presentations.

The aim of the project is to conduct operando XAS analysis at the FAME and FAME-UHD beamlines of the European Syncrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF/Grenoble) and to analyze the results and draw structure-activity relationships. The researcher will have solid support and collaboration by scientists from Neel Institute (CNRS UPR2940) in France and the KAUST Catalysis Center in Saudi Arabia.

In the framework of a collaboration between Neel institute (Grenoble/France) and the KAUST catalysis center from King Abdullah university of Science and Technology (Jeddah/Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), vacancy position is open for a post-doctoral fellow working in the field of heterogeneous catalysis.

The post-doctoral fellow will be assigned to the Institut Néel, a CNRS laboratory (UPR2940) for fundamental research in condensed matter physics, in association with the University of Grenoble-Alpes. About 450 people work there. In the heart of the Alps, the laboratory is located in Grenoble, in a very rich international scientific environment, hosting major research institutes and technological companies.

On a daily basis, he/she will work directly within the team in charge of the national FAME and FAME-UHD beamlines located on the scientific polygon at the ESRF, which has recently developed particularly efficient instruments, particularly in terms of speciation. , and highly demanded by users of French and international laboratories. This team is made up of a research director, a research officer, three research engineers and two engineering assistants, not to mention the occasional “local contact” researchers from Grenoble laboratories. The researcher will be under the responsibility of the manager of the two beamlines.
The candidate will be hosted by the "Materials, Radiations, Structure" team.
