Offer Description
Created in 1995, the Bordeaux Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry (ICMCB) focuses its research on Solid State Chemistry, Materials Science and Molecular Sciences: designing, preparing, shaping and characterizing materials in order to discover, control and optimize specific functions. The ICMCB carries out fundamental research on model materials and/or materials with potential applications.
The ICMCB is a UMR with an average of 270 agents (permanent and non-permanent), with 3 tutelles, hosted by the CNRS and in total ZRR. The position is located in a sector covered by the Protection of Scientific and Technical Potential (PSTP), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that the arrival of the agent be authorized by the competent authority of MESR.
The hydrolysis of borohydrides and magnesium alloys allows the generation of hydrogen that can be used to supply a fuel cell. However, a scale up of the process is necessary. The development of a prototype allowing a study in real conditions and with quantities of product 10 to 100 times higher will make it possible to highlight the problems of shaping of materials, heat transfer,…
Objectives and obstacles to overcome: The objective is to scale up the process. The locks to be lifted are linked to the prototype to be implemented. The various sensors (P, T, pH, etc.) will allow continuous monitoring of the process.
This work will start with the establishment of a complete specification to treat all the compounds considered (BH and Mg). The sizing of the prototype will also be discussed. Then, the various materials will be tested by varying the chemical compositions (of the material and the medium), the temperature, the initial pressure, the final pressure and the shaping of the material. The post-mortem analysis of the materials will increase our level of knowledge of the process.
The IEM-ICMCB collaboration is essential in order to test a wide range of materials.
