Offer Description

The "Digital World at the Service of Humankind" hub brings together the activities of about ten research labs on the Lille site. The Chair will be firmly rooted in the scientific strategy of one or more of these research labs, with whom the project will be developed, and who will in return undertake to provide an environment conducive to the development of the Chair's work and to create the conditions for scientific emulation around the issues addressed by the Chair. One of the objectives of the Chair will be to initiate a research group that will support the scientific policy of the research lab(s) involved, leading to the submission of projects, particularly European ones.
The activities of the Chair will benefit from access to the scientific and technological platforms of the laboratories.
The research labs likely to host a Chair are listed at this address :
https://www.univ-lille.fr/recherche/identifier-une-structure-de-recherc… ?
The scientific project developed by the Chair should address one or more of the challenges posed by the digital transition and its impact on individuals and societies. Within the framework of the digital Hub, the challenges identified concern in particular (1) the development of disruptive technologies in the field of telecommunications and intelligent connectivity (optical and radio links, edge computing, autonomous connected objects, etc.) ; (2) the development of innovative concepts and algorithms to master complexity based on mathematics, computer science, and physics, combining the collection and exploitation of massive data by advanced methods including artificial intelligence and machine learning; and (3) the modeling of the impact of digital technology on human cognition and the organization of modern societies, and the development of new man-machine interfaces.
Particular attention will be paid to transverse projects with a strong interdisciplinary component, associating several laboratories, either within the "human-friendly digital world" hub, or in interaction with the other hubs.
The candidate's project will include a training faculty linked to his or her research project, which will be developed in collaboration with a faculty or a member school of the University of Lille. During the CDD phase of the Chair, the holder will carry out 64 hours of teaching. In particular, he or she will be able to participate in the graduate program "Information and Knowledge Society", which is linked to the " Digital world for the benefit of humans " hub. This is a multidisciplinary program at Master and Doctorate level. This very high-level training is focused on research and is offered entirely in English to Master's students and PhD candidates. This program includes internships in research laboratories and/or companies as well as a study or internship program abroad. It benefits from digital tools and teaching, and pedagogical innovations financed by the Initiative of Excellence. A reinforced pathway to the doctorate is implemented in each graduate program and is based on the early detection and selection of undergraduate and master's students who are willing and able to pursue research studies. Some master's and doctoral students benefit, according to a selection procedure, from specific scholarships to pursue this program.
At the same time, the person recruited will be required to follow a pedagogical training course (32 hours) in order to integrate well into the teaching teams.
Support from the faculty to which the chair's host lab is attached will be provided in order to anticipate the integration of the professor after the fixed-term contract period.
