Offer Description

This profile corresponds to a long-standing scientific prioritý of the institution and specifically of CNRS Humanities and Social Sciences with, in particular, the development of initiatives such as the “Plateforme SHS Santé” (https://santeshs.hypotheses.org/a-propos/essai ). Among the emerging research topics of research, the challenges posed by health data and the transformations brought about by the emergence of digital technology in health constitute a privileged target, leading to the creation of this chair. The proliferation of health data (data from portable sensors, data from health authorities or social security institutions linked to the reimbursement of healthcare services, large-scale epidemiological and demographic surveys, etc.) and the growing use of digital tools in the health sector (teleconsultation, use of AI in diagnosis and biomedical experimentation, etc.) are opening up new research prospects in the humanities and social sciences of health. CNRS Humanities and Social Sciences wishes to develop research into the new possibilities for acquiring and compiling data on health, and their consequences for prevention and care practices.

Potential host laboratories come from a number of disciplines: law, economics, political science and sociology. They are able to carry out and support projects in these areas of research and are part of a buoyant academic context in these fields. They are co-supervisors of institutions with which CNRS Humanities and Social Sciences wishes to develop special relationships in these areas of research.

Research proposals will first of all be able to propose new hypotheses that take into account the proliferation of human health related data (in particular about the evidence of correlations between exposure to certain risks and health events). They could also look at the blind spots left by these data, particularly in relation to the difficulties in gaining access to the socio-demographic dimensions of some of them .
The research could also focus on health policies (in terms of care services, but also in terms of prevention) and, in particular, the way in which health data affects their conception and/or implementation, as well as the limits of these transformations.
Finally, the research proposal may include a documented analysis of the changes in healthcare practices linked to the arrival of digital tools in prevention and care services, by examining the changes in the practices of the professional groups and organisations that they induce; and in the same way, by taking an interest in the changes in individual and family health practices.

Teaching will be discussed in relation to the site where the recipient will be assigned. He/she will be involved at each site in existing courses.

The CNRS is developing a strong policy in favor of open science. Open science consists of making research results "as accessible as possible and closed as necessary". As such, the CNRS aims to make 100% of the texts of publications resulting from the work of its laboratories accessible , in particular through deposit in HAL. The data produced must also be made available and reusable, except for specific restrictions. In addition, the guiding principles of individual evaluation have been revised in accordance with the DORA declaration, to be more qualitative and to take into account all facets of the researcher's profession.

The dissemination of the results will be done through world-class scientific productions: publications, patents, software... In addition, the results will be communicated to various targets such as scientific communities, media, decision makers, general public, schools, etc., with an adapted calendar. Specific tools may be developed such as websites, newsletters, meetings, international symposia, summer schools and conferences.

The relationship between science and society is now recognized as a full dimension of scientific activity. The project will develop this dimension in synergy with all the partners. The resulting research work will contribute to informing public decision-making. Participatory science initiatives may be initiated with actors from the project's socio-economic and cultural eco-system.
