Offer Description
IRSET seeks talented young researchers aiming to develop their own research in Biological and Environmental Sciences with an opportunity to work alongside molecular biologists, immunologists, virologists, epidemiologists, analytical chemists, and toxicologists. The goal is to attract researchers with impactful publications and recognized accomplishments in their field, in order to support their application for an ERC Starting Grant or an ATIP-Avenir Program. IRSET will provide the successful applicant with a dedicated research area of approximately 50 m² (infrastructure fees will be paid by the host laboratory), and ensure access to cutting edge onsite technological platforms (e.g. BIOSIT). Selected applicants with the appropriate profil will be trained to apply to the competitive INSERM tenure position for junior scientists (CRCN), based on a research project co-constructed with the host lab’s scientists.
Applications from candidates in all areas of human health-related biology will be considered. Areas of particular interest include physiopathology (reproductive tract, liver, lung…), infectiology, innate immunity, etc.
Main Activities:
- Develop a high-impact research program integrated within the IRSET’s fields of research, using extra-mural funding,
- Publish with best standards for quality and reproducibility in open access journals,
- Mentor masters, PhD students and postdoctoral fellows.
Associated Activities:
- Participate in scientific conferences and seminars
- Contribute to IRSET international visibility
HOST INSTITUTION:
The French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM), the only French public research organization entirely dedicated to human health, covers a wide range of health research fields, from basic research to clinical research, to public health research, the latter being under the supervision of a fully-fledged multi-organization thematic institute. INSERM has research laboratories throughout the French territory, grouped into 12 Regional Delegations. The institute brings together 15,000 researchers, engineers, technicians and administrative staff, with a common objective: to improve the health of all through progress in knowledge of living organisms and diseases, innovation in treatments and public health research.
Joining INSERM means joining an institute committed to professional parity and equality, diversity and support for its agents with disabilities, from recruitment and throughout their career. In order to preserve well-being at work, INSERM pursues an active policy regarding working conditions, based in particular on a fair balance between personal and professional life.
INSERM received the European “HR Excellence in Research label” in 2016 and is committed to developing its researcher recruitment and evaluation practices.
