Director, Cancer Prevention & Early Detection Center (Interception®) – Gustave Roussy

Gustave Roussy (Paris), a leading European cancer centre, invites applications for the position of Director of its Cancer Prevention & Early Detection Center (Interception).

Background

Gustave Roussy employs more than 4,000 staff, including 1,600 dedicated to research, and hosts 43 research teams. The institute enrols approximately 7,000 patients annually in clinical studies. The Interception programme, launched in 2021, has expanded to 14 centres across France, with further expansion planned (23 centers already planned). It integrates clinical activities for high-risk individuals with translational research programmes focusing on premalignant conditions and molecular risk factors. The programme is supported by philanthropic funding and the PRISM Precision Medicine Institute.

Position :

The Director will define and implement the strategic vision of Interception. Responsibilities include leading multidisciplinary clinical teams, developing a portfolio of innovative clinical trials in cancer prevention, early detection and interception, and overseeing translational research programmes. The post-holder will coordinate national and international collaborations and contribute to the institutional leadership of Gustave Roussy.

Profile :

Applicants must hold an MD and PhD, with at least 10 years of experience, in oncology, cancer prevention or related fields. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong track record in leading clinical and research programmes, securing competitive funding, and mentoring junior investigators. International experience and the ability to work within global research networks are essential.

The position is supported by a €3M start-up package, in addition to existing institutional and PRISM funding (€3M). Dedicated laboratory space (100 m²) and access to a highly integrated clinical and research ecosystem are provided.
