oining the French Geological Survey (BRGM) means becoming part of France's leading public institution for Earth Science applications bringing together 1,000 wholeheartedly committed experts across 29 bases in Mainland and Overseas France. BRGM focuses on enhancing geological knowledge and understanding of surface and sub-surface-related phenomena, with a view to: meeting the challenges of environmental changes through innovative projects with societal implications.

The primary role of the Georesources Department is the acquisition, production, retention, valuation and dissemination of geological, geothermal energy and mineral knowledge as well as the development of tools, models and techniques relating to these three fields.

You will be joining the GSE (Geothermal Energy and Energy Storage) multidisciplinary unit, aiming to enhance the knowledge to characterize and exploit geothermal resources and the potential of underground energy storage. The unit also proposes optimal solutions for integrating these geothermal systems. The unit brings together twenty engineers and researchers to characterize, model and experiment underground thermal, hydraulic and mechanical phenomena, but also to ensure the dissemination of reference information, mainly through the ADEME-BRGM website www.geothermies.fr and institutional support for the entire geothermal sector.

You will be one of the reference project leaders for internal and external project management, mainly for scientific work in relation with deep geothermal energy project operators.

Responsibilities

- Set up and manage collaborative research projects or provide direct scientific support to operators in order to contribute to the deployment of new methods for exploring and exploiting deep geothermal energy.

- Integrate the contributions of geoscientific expertise to propose conceptual models of deep geothermal reservoirs in different geological contexts

- Contribute to expertise missions as part of deep geothermal energy projects on various aspects (exploration and exploitation strategy, prevention of seismic risk, etc.)

- Promote BRGM's know-how by ensuring representation in various national and/or European bodies

- Communicate the results of research work through scientific publications or conference presentations

- Ensure technological watch on new concepts of deep geothermal energy exploration and exploitation as well as deep energy storage.
