Offer Description

The main aim of this thesis is to identify language profiles in bilingual Basque/Basque-speaking autistic children, i.e. to identify strengths and weaknesses in their language abilities. In particular, it aims to extend the language domains targeted compared to previous studies that have explored the link between language development and bilingualism in autism. In addition, this thesis aims to study the impact of autism on the characterisation of these profiles by making comparisons with profiles obtained in other contexts of atypical development, TDL and language development by children with IDD and without autism.

The candidate will be supervised by Urtzi Etxeberria (IKER-CNRS), and Philippe Prévost (iBrain - University of Tours) and will work with the other members of the LABA project. The thesis will be under joint supervision. The project requires the candidate to be available and willing to travel abroad and take part in conferences and workshops.

The project will be entirely financed by a doctoral contract from the LABA project, which has received funding from the ANR (2023-2027), in which a thesis grant is budgeted. The doctoral student recruited will have an office and a computer at his/her disposal for the duration of the project (located at the IKER research centre).
