Job description: 10.5 months, renewable contract (option to change to a multi-year contract after the first year)
Remuneration: The main remuneration, paid by Unistra, is €3,824 gross per month, plus an additional remuneration
paid by the Azerbaijani partner (approx. €1,200 gross per month).
The person recruited will work at the Université Franco-azerbaijanese (Ufaz) in Baku, Azerbaijan (https://www.ufaz.az ),
where he/she will reinforce the teaching team for the "Geology, Geophysics, Georesources" bachelor's degree, the
"Geosciences" master's degree course and the new "Water Resources and Management" master's degree course due
to open in September 2024.
With a background in geology and/or geophysics, the person recruited will be responsible for organizing field works in
geology and geophysics. He/she will carry out theoretical and practical classroom teaching in geology or geophysics
for a total of 192 TD equivalent hours.
The person recruited will be expected to take part in the pedagogical operation of the Bachelor's and Master's
programs. In particular, he/she will be involved in supervising and monitoring student projects aimed at integrating
the various concepts taught in Geosciences (Bachelor's degree), as well as M1 research projects and M2 internships
(Master's degree).

The person recruited will carry out his/her research at Ufaz and will be attached to the Institut Terre et Environnement
de Strasbourg (Ites - https://ites.unistra.fr ). He or she will be able to conduct research in his or her specific field and
will be able to take advantage of the geophysics and geology equipment available at Ufaz, including shallow seismics,
resistivity, magnetotellurics, Georadar, gravimeter, magnetometer, supercomputers... (see full list of equipment:
https://www.ufaz.az/en/research/earth-sciences/equipment/ ). The person will also benefit from the close
relationships that Ufaz has already developed with local academic and industrial partners in the field of geophysics and
geology.
Description of other activities
Working closely with the Geoscience scientific manager, the person recruited will be responsible for local coordination
of the Geoscience team, comprising 3 full-time equivalent staff (2 bachelor's degree coordinators + 1 laboratory
assistant) in addition to the PhD students under joint supervision during their stay at Ufaz.
This coordination is accompanied by a 50h TD equivalent teaching discharge.
The team as a whole is responsible for:
- contributing to the smooth running of training courses in the broad field of Geosciences (two bachelor's degree
courses and two master's degree courses), in support of the course leaders who are in France;
- helping find and recruit local lecturers (part-time or temporary) for the courses;
- managing field equipment (geology and geophysics);
- monitoring geology and geophysics field camps (participants, site access authorizations, transport, accommodation,
supervision according to disciplinary skills);
- assisting the Geosciences research manager in meeting potential local research partners and setting up local
collaborations;
- budgeting local teaching and research expenses (field costs, consumables, research missions, etc.);
- participating in the recruitment/renewal of local team members and ensuring their training if necessary.
