Description de l'offre

The 2D spintronics team developed a platform to grow 2D materials on large areas (up to 2 inches) and van der Waals heterostructures composed of three MBE reactors all connected by a UHV linear transfer system: one dedicated to the growth of selenides, one for tellurides and the last one (to be developed in 2024) for hBN. The team is currently involved in ANR (French Research Agency) and European projects as well as in the “Programmes et Equipements Prioritaires de Recherche (PEPR)” and the “EQUIPements d’EXcellence (Equipex)”. This unique platform thus aims at providing high quality 2D materials and vdW heterostructures to French and European laboratories through scientific collaborations. To reinforce the team in terms of growth capacities, we open a three-years CDD (fixed-term job) position to work on the platform and grow 2D materials and vdW heterostructures.

The candidate will develop a research activity around spin-charge interconversion phenomena in TMDs to study THz spintronic emission and spin-orbit torques in the frame of the PEPR Microelectronics.

In this project, the candidate will explore new 2D materials and vdW heterostructures with high spin-orbit coupling interfaced with ferromagnets (either transition metals or 2D ferromagnets). THz measurements will be carried out in collaboration with LPENS in Paris (Sukhdeep Dhillon) and Laboratoire Albert Fert in Palaiseau (Jean-Marie George, Henri Jaffrès) where short stays will be planned. For the study of spin-orbit torques, the candidate will develop a new detecting technique based on magneto-optics where spin-orbit torques are measured by Kerr effect. For this last development, a collaboration with IPCMS in Strasbourg (Paul Noël) is starting. In parallel, the candidate will have in charge the MBE growth of a large variety of 2D materials in the frame of the European project EIC Pathfinder PLASNANO for the development of high carrier mobility TMDs and the ANR Project COME ON to study the first growth stages of TMDs on graphene. Before sharing the samples with the partners, the candidate will characterize the MBE grown films by AFM, Raman spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction measurements.
