Offer Description
The researcher will manage the supply of fibers from preforms obtained by processes other than MCVD. He/she will also be responsible for the optical and structural characterization of all optical fibers before and after poling. He/She will then develop a predictive model based on 2D Raman imaging data, of the ability of silicate fibers to generate second harmonic. Finally, in collaboration with the PLATINOM fiber platform and its manager, J.M. Blondy, and in liaison with GLOphotonics, which also owns a fiber-drawing tower, he/she will attempt to optimize the distribution of radial temperature during the drawing process. It should be noted that these towers are equipped with external laser sources enabling perfect control of the melting temperature, resulting in record propagation losses for hollow fibers. This unique tool was developed as part of Mr. Ali Al Dhaybi's PhD thesis, defended on November 23, 2023 at XLIM, and should enable us to control the evolution of the radial temperature distribution during drawing, and thus to control the TF associated with the fiber produced.
