We are now inviting applications for the position of University Teacher / University Lecturer  for a fixed term of 3 years.  The start date is 1.8.2021 but can be negotiated. The position is located in School of Accounting and Finance within the subject of Economics. 

The position will be filled at either University Teacher or University Lecturer level, depending on the applicant's merits. The employment is subject to a probationary period.

Your role 

The teaching and supervision tasks for this position will be focused on the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Economics. The position is teaching oriented but includes research. The activities in research are undertaken as a part of the Economics research group . 

The position may also include some administrative tasks. Furthermore, the University Lecturer role includes responsibility for developing education and teaching.

The tasks are agreed in more detail in the annual work plan. The annual working time is 1612 hours. 


The position of University Teacher requires an applicable Master's Degree and ideally a Doctoral Degree nearing completion. Further requirements include experience of teaching at  university level as well as an ability to  provide comprehensive and high quality teaching within the field economics.

In addition to the beforementioned, the position of University Lecturer requires a doctoral degree, the ability to provide research-based teaching of high quality and to supervise theses as well as dissertations. The successful candidate will also show the ability to manage and develop education. 

When assessing the qualifications of the candidates, attention will be paid to the merits of teaching skills, know-how about modern teaching methods, pedagogical education and other merits in teaching. Candidates may be asked to take part in a teaching demonstration. Evidence of research will be considered beneficial. We appreciate good cooperation and interaction skills, and active and solution oriented approach towards the developing activities.

Personnel recruited to teaching and research positions are to be proficient in Finnish. However, the university may grant an exemption from the Finnish language proficiency requirement.  Strong English language skills are a prerequisite to succeed in the position. More information:

The salary is based on the University Salary System for Teaching and Research Staff. The salary for an University Teacher is based on demand levels 4-5 (2591-3000 €/month) and for an University Lecturer demand levels 5-7 (3000-4033 €/month). An additional personal salary component is paid based on work performance.
